Bio

So that we're all on the same page, most of my thoughts and feelings are the same as they were before. I want to get this into the open so that we don't cross the bridge of  "I wish I would've known that before I voted for you". I am a leader of R.O.A.R (Residents Organizing Against Racism). I wholeheartedly believe that black lives matter. I believe in protest and have been involved in quite a few. I stand against police brutality and racism in the justice system. These things will not change. You may have also noticed that these things haven't stopped me from being involved in the community, the district and within our police department. As people, we can believe and be a part of whatever we want to be and that should never interfere with doing what's right for our school district, community and OUR STUDENTS. I have been effective with having conversations all across our community. Very few of those conversations were led by politics, my personal core beliefs or the other person's. None of those conversations have been hostile or disrespectful. You can ask those close to me and some that may be close to you. Their ideas of me will line up with each other.

Now that that's out of the way. My twins just graduated this year Chaska and both were on the Dean's List. We have been here since they were in the 3rd grade. I have absolutely no degrees in teaching and I'm not an expert on school board or students. If we're all honest, that's something that we all have in common. However, I have been in our schools and have been effective with students and alumni. I've been speaking and actively involved with our district for almost 4 years. From talking with staff, helping with events to reading to students. There's a reason why I'm welcomed across the district. I speak my truth and my truth alone. Even with not winning a seat on the last election, I still did what I felt needed to be done. I remained active and available.

I believe that time is the best thing that you can give anyone and I have given lots of time and I'll gladly do it over and over and over again. It doesn't matter what I'm doing, I'll never give a half a** effort. I'm either all-in or not in at all. You will never have to worry about me lying to you about anything. If there's a question that I don't have an answer for, I'm not afraid to say I don't know, to look for an answer or ask someone for advice. Too often we want to be the expert or the know it all in the room and it's completely fine to not be either one. I have been through and have seen more than one should in my lifetime, but with that experience, I've learned a lot. Also, I know people love to bring this up🤣🤣. I am not perfect by a long shot. I have a criminal record from more than 10 years ago. That situation was extremely humbling and beneficial for me. Because of it I've made many necessary changes in my life that have allowed me to be here today. Those changes are the reasons why I've been able to have so many conversations with a wide range of people. There's a video that will be posted here that explains it all. I'm not proud of it, but I am far from being ashamed of it. I will always be your best resource for anything Dontá related and have had an open door policy for conversations ever since I started and being active here. I would like to wish all candidates that are running good luck and I'm looking forward to meeting everyone.
